Simplifying Örlygur Steinar Arnalds’ artistic activity to a single typical descriptive
template is not only as difficult as trying to make sense of his tangled, messy
.maxpat music projects, but also overly reductive.
Born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland, he travels through music, experimenting with
electroacoustic sounds, gritty punk, and extending further to free improvisation and
electronic club music. Through various collaborations he has notable releases on
labels such as SVBKVLT (CN, UK), Superpang (IT), and Mengi Records (IS), as well
as traveling the world alongside his collaborators, performing at festivals such as
Primavera Sound, Unsound, and Norberg Festival.
